WASHER TANKS - OXALATE REMOVAL ``ALUMINIUM OF GREECE``
“Aluminium of Greece”, a member of MYTILINEOS Group, is one of the leading vertically integrated aluminium and alumina producers in Europe. Its industrial facilities at Agios Nikolaos, Viotia, represent one of the most significant metallurgical complexes in Greece.
The industrial facilities include demanding process installations and complex steel structures designed to meet stringent operational, structural and constructability requirements.
As part of the Oxalate Removal Project, two Washer Tanks were designed for installation within the existing industrial facilities in Viotia. Each tank has a diameter of approximately 16 m and a height of 18 m, with the two tanks interconnected through a steel pipe rack at their upper level.
The engineering scope included the development of fully detailed structural models to support fabrication and construction. The overall weight of the tanks was approximately 260 tonnes of steel.
SCOPE
CiABIM cooperated with the design department of ERGOPRAXIS, undertaking the civil and structural design of the steel structures and their foundations. Our scope included the development and optimization of the structural analysis models, incorporating the mechanical design requirements and project-specific loading information provided by the MEP design team.
CiABIM also developed fully detailed Tekla Structures models (LOD 400), incorporating the structural design requirements and supporting the detailed engineering and fabrication process through a coordinated BIM workflow.
