STEEL SCAFFOLDING TEMPLE OF OLYMPIAN ZEUS ATHENS
The steel scaffolding system was erected within the archaeological site of the Temple of Olympian Zeus in Athens to provide safe access for the detailed inspection and documentation of the condition and structural pathology of the ancient columns.
The temporary steel structure enabled the required investigation, maintenance and conservation activities to be carried out while addressing the particular constraints associated with working within a significant archaeological site.
The scaffolding system comprised approximately 130 tonnes of structural steel.
SCOPE
CiABIM collaborated with ATHANASIOU ABETE, undertaking the steel connection design and structural BIM development for the project. Our scope included the integration of the structural analysis and connection design requirements into the Tekla Structures environment.
A fully detailed Tekla Structures model (LOD 400) was developed to support the fabrication and erection of the steel scaffolding system, providing coordinated and accurate information for the execution of the temporary works.
