ROTTERDAM SITE DEVELOPMENT-EXPANSION REFINERY ``NESTE NETHERLANDS B.V.``
The project included the fabrication and installation of pipe racks, process buildings and shelters for the expansion of NESTE’s refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, a major producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel.
CiABIM participated in the steel connection design and BIM development of the project. The steel structures had a total weight of approximately 2,100 tonnes, with the project requiring extensive coordination between structural steelwork, mechanical equipment and process installations.
The engineering scope required a high level of coordination and constructability control to support the fabrication and installation of the steel structures in accordance with the project’s demanding safety and quality requirements.
SCOPE
CiABIM collaborated with SOFMAN’s design team, undertaking the steel connection design and the development of the structural BIM model. Particular emphasis was placed on the coordination of the steel structures with the mechanical equipment and the identification and resolution of potential clashes.
A fully detailed Tekla Structures model (LOD 400) was developed for fabrication, with the project team collaborating through Trimble’s model-sharing environment to maintain coordinated and up-to-date design information throughout the detailed engineering process.
